#1 — Saudi Arabia: up to $160 million a year
Here's the biggest source of Neymar's fortune — and the most absurd. In August 2023, he signed with Al-Hilal one of the richest contracts in soccer history. Estimates vary, but reports point to salary and bonus earnings of up to $160 million a year at the peak, with the package including a Saudi tourism-ambassador component, similar to Ronaldo's.
And here's the cruel irony: a serious knee injury (a ligament tear, in October 2023) badly limited his appearances in Saudi Arabia. He was paid fortunes to play barely at all, and left the club in January 2025. Even so, this was the contract that inflated his fortune the most — his net worth jumped from about £160 million in early 2023 to today's £334 million, largely thanks to the Saudi money.
Put it all together — Santos, Barcelona, the €222 million transfer, the $350 million at PSG, the Puma sponsorships, the return to Santos, and the Saudi mega-contract — and Neymar's gross career earnings pass $700 million, with some sources pointing to more than $1 billion.
The big caveat: why the sources disagree so much
Here's the honest part few articles tell. Neymar's net worth is the most disputed on the podium: The Sun and Celebrity Net Worth put him at about £334 million / $450 million, but other sources estimate $200 million or less.
Why? Because Neymar is the classic example of earning a lot and spending a lot. One source estimates he made more than $1.1 billion gross over his career — but that his net worth represents less than 20% of that, eroded by a lavish lifestyle, taxes, and tax disputes. Cars like a $2.5 million Bugatti Veyron, a jet, a yacht. The gap between what he earned and what he has is the biggest on the podium.
So £334 million is the most generous estimate — and the one that puts him 3rd. On the most conservative count, he's still extremely rich, just not as far above the others. The truth is somewhere in the middle, and it depends on who you choose to believe.
