#4 — Joseph Lau's Boeing 747-8 VIP: $367 million
Hong Kong billionaire Joseph Lau owns one of the largest private jets in the world: a Boeing 747-8 VIP. The plane usually costs about $150 million, but with his customizations it reportedly reached $367 million.
The VIP version has a bar, a dining room, more than one living room, and an exclusive "sky loft" above the main cabin, plus bedrooms, a huge meeting room, and a gym. It's, literally, a commercial jumbo jet turned into a luxury residence.
Three to go. And #1 is the most extravagant ever conceived.

#3 — Alisher Usmanov's Airbus A340-300: about $350 to 400 million
Russian billionaire Alisher Usmanov has an Airbus A340-300 frequently valued between $350 and 400 million with its customized interior. It's so large and luxurious it's called a "flying mansion."
Some rankings consider it the most expensive privately owned production jet (excluding government planes, like Air Force One, valued at $660M but not private). It's the kind of aircraft that mixes extreme luxury with cutting-edge technology.

#2 — The value controversy: why these numbers are fragile
Before #1, the uncomfortable truth about these prices. Many of the famous "most expensive jet" values are inflated or disputed. The real price adds three things: factory price + customization + (de)preciation over time — and customization rarely has resale value.
Example: that Trump Boeing 757, with a "cultural" value of $100M, would be worth much less on the real market. And the biggest of all, coming next, has the definitive controversy: the owner may never have received it. The numbers impress, but it's wise to read them with skepticism.
And now #1 — the $500 million flying palace.
